Sidney Sandoe died 27 July 1911 at RN Hospital, Gillingham; harbourman at Sheerness Dockyard; naval pensioner; age 42; chronic interstitial nephritis; heart failure; registered Medway 1911SEP 2a/912. Sources: DC, GRO. According to daughters Marie and Clarice, he took part in a sea rescue in the estuary in a storm in Feb/March, came home wet through, and never returned to work again.
